Handmade Orthodox Icon Riza tou Iesai carved frame with in natural rombolo pine wood. This icon is crafted on canvas and is crafted by a craftsman by hand gilding according to the style, tradition and criteria required by Byzantine art.
The icon is called the “Root of Jesse”, because our Virgin Mary comes from Jesse in the flesh. Jesse was the father of the Prophet David.
The Most Holy Theotokos throne is depicted, while on either side there are the branches of a tree. At the bottom of the image we see Jesse lying down, as if he were the root of the tree, whose branches we see, to the right and left of the Virgin Mary’s throne. In the branches of the tree, sit the prophets who have prophesied in the Old Testament about the Virgin Mary us. Each prophet simultaneously holds a) a scroll, which contains the prophecy he announced and b) a small effigy, which visually presents his prophecy.
