The Vine tree (carved frame)

Handmade Orthodox Icon The Vine Tree carved frame with in natural rombolo pine wood. This icon is crafted on canvas and is crafted by a craftsman by hand gilding according to the style, tradition and criteria required by Byzantine art.

In the New Testament Christ is likened to a Vine that gives life to the branches. The branches are groomed, united to the Vine and produce spiritual fruit. The Twelve Apostles are sitting on the branches of the Vine and the Protokoryfaios, Peter and Paul, on the top of it. Christ is depicted in the center with the Gospel open. The Gospel writes the following phrase: “I am the true vine and my father is the husbandman.” Every vine in me that does not bear unnecessary fruit, and every one that bears fruit, purify it so that it may bear more fruit.”
