Handmade Orthodox Virgin Mary of Jerusalem carving made of Agioreite gilded canvas and natural pine wood. The outline of the image is carved and the feeling of relief is created.
“Virgin Mary of Jerusalem”, was canonized in the 19th century Miraculously. It is dated 1870 and has the following history: At that time there was a Hagiographer Nun named Tatiani, of the Russian Holy Monastery of the Incense Saint Mary Magdalene, which is located at the foot of the Mount of Olives opposite Jerusalem.
And Tatiani saw the following Vision as she slept: She saw that an unknown Nun visited her in her cell, who said to her: “Sister Tatiani, I have come for you to paint me.” Tatiani replied: “Bless, sister, but I am a hagiographer and not a painter.” And the Visitor says to her: “Then paint me.” Tatiani was surprised by the courage of the stranger and replied: “I don’t have wood (board), where can I paint you?”. And then the Visiting Nun hands her a painting board and says: “Paint”!
But while Tatiani was painting the Nun, he saw Her Robes turning golden, Her Face shining brightly, and He heard Her say: “O blessed Tatiani, after the Apostle and Evangelist Luke, you will paint me again.”
Tatiani was realized that she was painting the Virgin Mary! He became agitated and woke up. He immediately rushed to the Abbess and told her the Vision. The Abbess was in disbelief and told her to go to sleep and tomorrow to paint an icon of the Virgin Mary. But as she was returning, she saw a light coming out of her cell and felt a fragrance! Then he notified the Abbess and together they entered the bright and fragrant cell, where they saw a more amazing Miracle.
The Vision Image was in the cell real, Unmade! This Holy Icon of the Virgin Mary! After all this, the Virgin again appears to the Nun and says: “Take me down to my house, in Gethsemane.” Which happened.
Since then, the Immaculate Holy Icon of the Virgin Mary “Virgin Mary of Jerusalem”, is located in the Holy Pilgrimage of the Theotokos Memorial of Gethsemane, and it works miracles. And the three times that the Holy Temple in Gethsemane was flooded, the Image rose by itself from the marble throne that it is on and stood in the ventilation system, without being supported anywhere!
