Saint George (carved frame)

The Holy Great Martyr George the Trophy Bearer belongs to the choir of great martyrs and is one of the most popular Saints of our Church. He lived at the end of the 3rd century AD. and the beginning of the 4th during the reign of Diocletian.

His time was a time of cruel persecutions and exterminations against the Christian Faith. George had a great position. He was a count and distinguished himself in all military operations for his bravery and valor. However, despite all the glory and honors, he did not refuse to sacrifice everything and confess his Christian faith before the emperor and many nobles. He endured many and horrible tortures that in the end made him a Great Martyr.
