Engraved Orthodox Icon Archangel Michael with polished gold look on natural rombolo pine wood. This image was created on canvas and is made according to the style, tradition and criteria required by Byzantine art.
Archangel Michael is the only one mentioned as an archangel in the Holy Bible. He is also called “one of the first lords” and “archons”. His name means “Who (Is) Like God?” He was the one who announced to Abraham the need to sacrifice his son, Isaac, and who then prevented it, and the one who appeared to Lot, and redeemed him and his family from the destruction of Sodom. Michael was also the one who led the people of Israel to escape from Egypt appearing in the form of a cloud by day and fire by night (Ex. 13,26) leading them to the Promised Land.
According to the Eastern Orthodox Church, they belong with Gabriel to the second of the nine orders of bodies and are celebrated on November 8. On September 6, the miracle of the Archangel Michael is celebrated in Chonai, Asia Minor. He is the patron saint of Brussels and Kiev.
