Archangel Michael carving is made of Agioreite gilded canvas and natural pine wood. The outline of the image is carved and the feeling of relief is created.
Archangel Michael is the only one mentioned as an archangel in the Bible. He is also called “one of the first lords” and “princes”. His name means “Who (Is) Like God?” He was the one who announced to Abraham the need to sacrifice his son Isaac and who then prevented it and he who appeared to Lot, and delivered him and his family from the destruction of Sodom. Michael was also the one who led the people of Israel to escape from Egypt appearing in the form of a cloud by day and fire by night (Ex. 13:26) leading them to the Promised Land. According to the Eastern Orthodox Church, they belong together with Gabriel in the second of the nine orders of bodies and are celebrated on November 8. On September 6, the miracle of the Archangel Michael is celebrated in Chonai, Asia Minor. He is the patron saint of Brussels and Kiev.
