Orthodox Icon Saint Stylianos carved frame in natural rombolo pine wood. This Icon is handcrafted on canvas by a craftsman and embossed according to the style and tradition of Byzantine art.
The historical information we have about Saint Stylianos’ life is scant (few, poor). He was born in Adrianople, Paphlagonia, Asia Minor. As soon as he came of age, he distributed his father’s property to the poor and lived in a secluded place with fasting and persistent exercise in a cave. He gained, over the years, fame mainly for his miraculous prayer that helped many women when they did not give birth. Thus the Saint was established as the patron of infants and healer of childhood diseases.
Died in Paphlagonia, unknown date. The Orthodox Church honors his memory on November 26.
