John the Baptist, also called John the Forerunner, is a Saint and prophet of Christianity. He was a contemporary-peer of Jesus Christ and it is considered that with his teaching he prepared the world to welcome the Messiah Jesus, hence the designation “Forerunner”, whom he baptized. His memory is celebrated on January 7.
