Vasileios the Great (Caesaria of Cappadocia 330 – Caesarea of Cappadocia 1 January 379), also known as Vasileios of Caesarea or simply Saint Vasiseios, was a Greek, Cappadocian, bishop of Caesarea in Cappadocia on the Asia Minor peninsula, theologian and Father of the Church. He supported the Creed and opposed the heresies of early Christian times, including Arianism (Arian controversy). He is one of the Three Hierarchs. His memory is commemorated on January 1.
