Handmade Orthodox Icon Virgin Mary Amolyntos or Virgin of the Passion in natural rombolo pine wood. This icon was created on canvas and is made by a craftsman by hand according to the style, tradition and criteria of Byzantine art.
The name of Panagia comes from the Apodeipnos hymn “Aspile, Amolynte, Achrande…” composed by the monk Pavlos of the Evergetidos monastery.
Amolyntos in Orthodox iconography is also called Our Lady of Passion, because Christ contemplates the two Angels who are depicted on either side of the Virgin and hold in their hands the symbols of passion, i.e. the Cross, the Spear and the Sponge.
