Saint John the Russian Gold mirror effect
Handmade Orthodox Icon Saint John the Russian Gold mirror effect in natural rombolo pine wood. This icon was created on canvas and is made by a craftsman by hand according to the style, tradition and criteria of Byzantine art.
Saint John was born in a village in Little Russia around 1690, to virtuous and faithful parents. From an early age he was nurtured in the Orthodox spirit and learned the holy letters. He took part in the great Russo-Turkish war (1710-1711), which became infamous for Russia, and he himself was captured by the Tatars and then sold to the Ottoman officer Hipparchus. Unlike his captive countrymen, who converted to Islam, he remained committed to his faith in Jesus Christ and courageously professed his faith. He characteristically stated “He was born a Christian and I want to die a Christian…”. This brashness and confession earned him the evangelical title of the new confessor.
