This miraculous icon is portable from the 17th century. and is located in the left shrine of the northeast column of the Catholicos of Vatopedi Monastery. According to the accounts of contemporary Elders of the Monastery, the first sign that the icon has a special grace is the following fact: One day a young man entered the temple and while going to worship the icon, the face of the Virgin suddenly flashed and an invisible force knocked him down.
As soon as he recovered, he tearfully confessed to the fathers that he was living away from God and indulging in sorcery. Thus, the miraculous intervention of the Virgin convinced the young man to change his life and become a God-fearing man.
This image also has the property and special grace from God to cure the terrible disease of cancer. Innumerable cases of cancer patients are known who have been cured nowadays, after a prayer in front of Panagia Pantanassa.
